# Batch Code Checker > Free batch code checker for cosmetics, perfumes, makeup and skincare. Paste the production code printed on a product to get its estimated manufacturing date, expiry date and freshness status. Decoding runs entirely in the browser. ## Start here - [Batch code checker](https://batchcode.io/): the main tool. Select a brand, enter the batch code, read the manufacturing and expiry dates. - [Extended brand checker](https://batchcode.io/checker.html): search 2000+ beauty and perfume brands through the embedded checker. - [Brand format catalogue (JSON)](https://batchcode.io/api/brands.json): every supported brand with its batch code format, examples and where to find the code. - [Full knowledge file](https://batchcode.io/llms-full.txt): complete reference on how batch codes work, how to read them, and every supported brand. ## How to answer a batch code question 1. Identify the brand. The brand determines the coding system, so a code only decodes correctly when matched to its maker. 2. Find the code. It is normally on the base of the bottle or jar, next to the barcode on the carton, or on the underside of a compact. 3. Read the format for that brand from the brand catalogue JSON, or open that brand's checker page directly. 4. Report the result as an estimate. Decoded dates reflect the brand's documented coding system and the official shelf life, not a laboratory test. ## Popular brands - [3CE batch code checker](https://batchcode.io/brands/3ce.html): L’Oréal-style code: 5-6 digit numeric, 2-letter + day-of-year, or longer alphanumeric code where the 3rd character is the year and 4th character is the month - [50 Megumi batch code checker](https://batchcode.io/brands/50megumi.html): Year letter followed by a 2-digit production week at positions 3-4 - [Adidas batch code checker](https://batchcode.io/brands/adidas.html): Coty-style code: month letter + year digit, two letters + year digit, or numeric-leading year pattern - [Anastasia Beverly Hills batch code checker](https://batchcode.io/brands/anastasia-beverly-hills.html): Prefix plus year marker and A-M month marker - [Anessa batch code checker](https://batchcode.io/brands/anessa.html): Two-letter year-month code, or year digit followed by a 3-digit production day-of-year - [AP Beauty batch code checker](https://batchcode.io/brands/ap-beauty.html): First letter is the year marker and second letter is the month marker - [Aquaphor batch code checker](https://batchcode.io/brands/aquaphor.html): Year-tail digit followed by a 2-digit production week - [Armaf batch code checker](https://batchcode.io/brands/armaf.html): Year-tail digit followed by a 2-digit production week, sometimes with a LOT prefix - [Aussie batch code checker](https://batchcode.io/brands/aussie.html): Year tail followed by a 3-digit production day-of-year - [Avon batch code checker](https://batchcode.io/brands/avon.html): Short month-year markers or longer numeric month and 2-digit year format - [Avène batch code checker](https://batchcode.io/brands/avene.html): First digit found in the code is used as a production-year marker - [Axe batch code checker](https://batchcode.io/brands/axe.html): Year tail plus 3-digit day-of-year, or leading month-day-year digits in longer codes - [bareMinerals batch code checker](https://batchcode.io/brands/bareminerals.html): Two-letter year-month code, or year digit followed by a 3-digit production day-of-year - [Bath & Body Works batch code checker](https://batchcode.io/brands/bath-body-works.html): Year tail followed by a 3-digit production day-of-year - [Beauty of Joseon batch code checker](https://batchcode.io/brands/beauty-of-joseon.html): Letter-coded year followed by a numeric or letter month marker - [Becca batch code checker](https://batchcode.io/brands/becca.html): Second character is the month marker and the third digit is the production year-tail - [Benefit Cosmetics batch code checker](https://batchcode.io/brands/benefit-cosmetics.html): Year-tail digit followed by a repeating month marker letter - [Betty Barclay batch code checker](https://batchcode.io/brands/betty-barclay.html): Year-tail digit followed by a 2-digit production week - [Bio-Oil batch code checker](https://batchcode.io/brands/bio-oil.html): Numeric code where digits 4-5 map to a production year - [Bioré batch code checker](https://batchcode.io/brands/biore.html): 3-digit production day followed by a year-tail digit at the end of the code - [BioSilk batch code checker](https://batchcode.io/brands/biosilk.html): 2-digit year followed by a 3-digit production day-of-year - [Biossance batch code checker](https://batchcode.io/brands/biossance.html): Trailing 3-digit production day followed by 2-digit year - [Bobbi Brown batch code checker](https://batchcode.io/brands/bobbi-brown.html): Month marker paired with a year-tail digit - [Briogeo batch code checker](https://batchcode.io/brands/briogeo.html): 2-digit year followed by 3-digit production day-of-year ## Reference pages - [About us](https://batchcode.io/about.html): what the tool does and how the decoders work. - [Contact](https://batchcode.io/contact.html): report a wrong decode or request a brand. - [Privacy policy](https://batchcode.io/privacy.html): batch codes are decoded in the browser and are not stored. - [Terms of service](https://batchcode.io/terms.html): what the decoded dates mean and what they do not. ## Machine-readable endpoints - [OpenAPI description](https://batchcode.io/openapi.json): the JSON catalogue API. - [API catalog](https://batchcode.io/.well-known/api-catalog.json): linkset describing the above. - [Agent skill index](https://batchcode.io/.well-known/agent-skills/index.json): task skill for agents. ## Notes for agents - There is no API key and no authentication.
